THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Planner is responsible for providing effective and efficient information about development applications. They will liaise with stakeholders and community members as well as Council’s Development team on all matters related to the development application process and assist the Statutory Planning Services Team Leader and Manager Building and Development Services in the administration and coordination of statutory planning matters.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO

  • Provide advice and consultation to stakeholders and other Government agencies on building and development related matters,
  • Monitor the progress of applications and referrals to ensure timely and appropriate determination,
  • Maintain awareness of legislation changes and assist the Statutory Planning Services Team Leader in communicating these changes to your team,
  • Notices in accordance with delegated authority for appropriate rectification pursuant to the Local Government Act and Regulations, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations and other related legislation where non-compliance has been observed,
  • Engage with Stakeholders and members of the wider community to facilitate sustainable development of the Local Government Area and
  • Build positive and productive working relationships across the organisation. 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • Degree qualifications in Town Planning and be suitable for corporate membership of the Planning Institute of Australia,
  • Demonstrated post graduate experience in statutory planning functions,
  • Commitment to customer service,
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills,
  • Experience in Local Government Planning and
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate across all levels of an organisation.

ABOUT YOU

Council is looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join our Building and Development Branch. You will have strong knowledge across all areas of town planning and be able to support your team in managing the demands of a growing regional centre. You will be a team player who continually shows positive leadership and drives engagement to build a team culture of high performance and effective stakeholder relationships.

Salary: $83,291 to $96,798 per annum plus superannuation
