About the Opportunity

You will contribute to the development of world leading bespoke High Frequency Surveillance (HFS) technology. BAE Systems Australia is committed to developing long-term sustainable growth across our HFS export markets, these activities create a pipeline of ongoing work and in turn, highly stimulating and stable career opportunities.

As a Systems Engineer on HFS you will enjoy defining and solving problems. With reference to budget and schedule, you will derive requirements, scope and acceptance criteria. These drive the design architecture/function/performance as applicable. Those activities then define the work scope for Software and Hardware development, manufacturing, assembly, integration, delivery and operation.

With initial focus on HFS, there will be opportunities to support other projects in the future too.

This opportunity will see you:

  • Deployed to critical Defence programs to supply requisite systems engineering rigour, best practice benchmarks and discipline leadership
  • Develop and manage system requirements and design including system and subsystem specifications, product breakdown structure, design documentation, component and interface specifications
  • Work within an team systems engineers, working closely with teams of other disciplines
  • Support the Systems Engineering Team Lead in a variety of specific leadership tasks
  • Perform system engineering activities including requirements management, functional analysis, candidate solution development, system design, system analysis, integration, verification and validation, acceptance testing and certification
  • Embrace and champion the transition towards a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology across the business
  • Participate in ensuring that designs meet all statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Perform analyses to define and characterise the system and its components
  • Utilise domain, discipline and systems engineering knowledge to enable, support and deliver products robustly, demonstrating they meet their requirements and are fit for purpose

About you

As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • The ability to obtain or already hold an Australian Defence Clearance (Essential)
  • Experience in an ASDEFCON program would be advantageous (Ideal but not essential)
  • A University degree level engineering qualification preferably within a Systems, Electronics, Software, Mechatronics or Aerospace discipline
  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering Experience coupled with engineering experience in a relevant discipline
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management skills
