As a member of the Safety & Standards - JBA Operations Support team, the Human Risk Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction with respect to human factors and providing specialist technical advice and support to the Jetstar Group in the areas of human factors, safety and risk.

Through the application of contemporary human factors and risk management practices, the incumbent is responsible for supporting Jetstar Branded Airlines in the identification and assessment of Human Factors and safety risks and issues, and providing timely and practical recommendations to all areas of the business to manage those risks. The role is also responsible for the management and delivery of the Safety and Standards Service Level Agreement with Jetstar Australia New Zealand.

Reporting to the Head of Group Safety & Standards – JBA Operations Support, key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake strategic reviews across the Jetstar Branded Airlines (JBAs) to identify human factors risks and controls
  • Manage and deliver the Safety and Standards Service Level Agreement with Jetstar Australia New Zealand including management of the team to deliver on the FRMS component of the SLA
  • Work in partnership with the JBAs to continue to integrate Human Factors considerations into individual JBA Safety Management Systems and processes as part of the Group Integrated Risk Management Strategic program
  • Produce Human Factors, safety and risk guidance material, to ensure consistency in standards and approaches across the JBAs
  • Integration of risk and human factors management into the Jetstar Group Operations Standards program
  • Providing detailed Human Factors analysis and preparation of Human Factors assessment reports to stakeholders
  • Provide the JBAs with contemporary investigation practices and programs, with a focus on identifying Human Factors contributions
  • Providing high quality reports and trends on Human Factors issues to the Manager Group Human Risk as required
  • Develop and deliver best practice Human Factors, safety and risk training across the Jetstar Group
  • Support the JBAs to enhance CRM programs across all safety critical roles
  • Integrate cultural awareness development into the CRM programs across the JBAs
  • Develop and support the implementation of safety leadership initiatives and safety culture development initiatives
  • Support the corporate communications team in ensuring a strong and consistent safety message across the Group

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills & experience:

  • As a minimum, tertiary qualifications in in Clinical Psychology or Organisational Psychology or Human Factors. A Masters in one of these disciplines is desirable.
  • 7+ years experience as a Human Factors, safety or risk specialist in the aviation/ airline industry, or related high-risk sector
  • Risk knowledge / application experience
  • Safety management systems knowledge / application experience
  • Human factors – proven track record in successful project management and implementation
  • A thorough understanding of compliance activity typical for an Airline environment
  • A combination of well-developed program and project management, planning and analytical skills
  • Able to communicate business status through reporting methodologies, such as business score cards
  • An airline operational qualification is desirable
  • Experience working in Asia desirable
