The position of Manager Operations Standards and Assurance – JBA Operations Support is required to lead the Jetstar Operations Standards Program through the delivery of a risk-based assurance program that provides oversight of safety risks and performance, as well as coordination of Jetstar’s core safety governance activities. The role is also required to assist the JBA Operations Streams to develop commonality in process and to help ensure consistency and that Jetstar’s BSA standards are maintained across the Group.

We're looking for a strategic mind with the ability to work with key stakeholders and SMEs to identify and understand opportunities for improvement across a broad operational footprint; communication skills are key and so will be your ability to engage stakeholders from all levels of the organisation to meet agreed outcomes and deadlines. 

Reporting to the Head of Safety & Standards – JBA Operations Support, key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, initiate and track Group Operations assurance and audit program across the Jetstar Branded Airlines (JBAs) using a risk based approach
  • Monitor Quality/Compliance deficiencies and data trends and develop and deliver an associated reporting system
  • Ensure identified non-conformance issues are tracked through to resolution through structured reporting and escalation processes
  • Monitor how JBA Regulatory Compliance is maintained as it relates to relevant NAA Regulation and Jetstar Procedures
  • Keep the Group Operations Management and JBA Operations Management abreast of issues emerging from Group Oversight
  • Take the lead in communicating and coaching cross JBA lessons and solutions
  • Work closely with the JBA Managers and SMEs to support common objectives and enhance JBAs alignment with common process and standards and principles of their respective service agreements 
  • Assist in Group related Quality/Compliance/Safety Strategy development
  • Coordinate and draft the quarterly Qantas Safety Board Papers for the JBAs.
  • Coordinate and develop the monthly Group Airline Safety Committee reports and manage the associated meetings.
  • Provide safety reporting on the Minimum Operating Standards program and other JBA safety related maters as required
  • Act as central management for the Group’s common Safety Data Management System
  • Provide support and advise to JBAs on safety management systems and Group harmonisation
  • Manage and lead the Group Operations Standards Auditor(s) 

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills & experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification preferred, i.e Diploma in a Quality or Safety related discipline
  • Relevant audit qualifications/experience, i.e. RABQSA auditor, lead auditor 
  • An airline operational qualification is desirable
  • Detailed understanding airworthiness regulatory requirements for AOCs
  • Sound knowledge of management, business analysis and review techniques 
  • A thorough understanding of quality compliance activity typical for an Airline environment.
  • Good negotiation skills and implementation of high profile projects / initiatives
  • Able to communicate business status through reporting methodologies, such as business score cards.
  • Knowledge of Civil Aviation Regulations, various jurisdictions
  • A combination of well-developed program and project management, planning and analytical skills
