About AIMS

The Australian Institute of Marine Science is Australia’s tropical marine research agency. We are a trusted advisor, a partner and employer of choice, and we value integrity, innovation, collaboration and respect. AIMS’ research of Australia’s tropical marine ecosystems guides their effective environmental management and contributes to our understanding of similar ecosystems around the world. Our research seeks to deliver practical benefit to all Australians and supports the sustainable use our tropical marine estate. Governments, reef managers, industry and the wider community look to our high-quality, long-term research for informed decisions about our iconic Great Barrier Reef, North-West Shelf, and Arafura and Timor Seas.

About this Opportunity

Great Barrier Marine Park Authority and Queensland's Department of Environment and Science operate the Joint Field Management Program (JFMP) for the marine and island national parks, encompassing the GBF Marine Park and the GBF Coast Marine Park. AIMS and the JFMP are working together to develop and deploy a range of new technical solutions to deliver new capacity in marine monitoring. This underpins work to document the status of the GBR World Heritage Area, to implement conservation strategies, and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the reef.

Working as part of the Technology Development team, you will be responsible for the delivery of innovative monitoring solutions through the management of the design, build and test process to integrate developed components and designs into functional solutions for our clients.

The position will have overall responsibility for managing the delivery of solutions to our clients including direct management of the build, integration, testing and operationalisation phases. Additionally, your exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and strong organisational capabilities will enable you to collaboratively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including AIMS colleagues, external clients and researchers, to anticipate and reflect their needs and adapt individual or team activities to changes in client needs.
