The Workforce Planning function has been established as a Centre of Excellence to identify and deliver best practice workforce planning across Customer Experience, Flight Operations and Grounds Operations for Jetstar Australia and New Zealand.

This position plays a critical role in the planning rosters for the Customer Experience & Tech Crew Teams.

Reporting to the Manager Workforce Planning – Cabin Crew & Tech Crew, we're looking for a dedicated person who will be responsible for ensuring all planning of monthly rosters for a group of Jetstar crew (divided by crew type, base, fleet, etc).

Your main accountabilities will include:

  • Take ownership of planning monthly or 28-day rosters for a group of Jetstar crew as delegated by the Workforce Planning Supervisor (divided by crew type, base, fleet, etc).
  • Publish rosters for crew, on-time, for each month or 28-day period, ensuring all duties are rostered in accordance with the Operations Manual, industrial agreements or employment contracts, company policies and any applicable rules.
  • Ensure that standby coverage is assigned in accordance with the agreed policies.
  • Constantly consider cost implications when assessing solutions to rostering scenarios to ensure that the most cost-effective solution is planned.
  • Within the bounds of policy, ensure that the rosters are as fair and equitable as possible from the crew perspective, considering the system they have for roster requests.
  • Ensure that the integrity of the planned ground and/or line training duties are maintained to ensure that crew remain legal to operate.,
  • Utilise the computerised crew scheduling system as effectively as possible to achieving the most efficient results.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills & experience:

  • Experience in a job involving planning resources (e.g. rostering staff members, planning allocation of resource, etc)
  • Capability for resource allocation planning, based on a logical mindset and an ability to apply that logic practically
  • Highly-developed problem solving skills
  • Integrity to act in the company's best interest given conflicting factors and pressures
  • Mindset to work in a highly regulated safety-critical environment
  • Aptitude to understand the meaning of rules written in aviation jargon and/or legal terms
  • Initiative to seek-out information required to drive decision and an ability to draw appropriate conclusions from incomplete information
  • High computer literacy and ability to learn new systems
  • Embracing of changes to improve deliverables
  • Appropriately professional and respectful manner in dealing with crew members and other colleagues
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia

The successful applicant will be a team player who can demonstrate excellent organisation skills and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal, diplomacy and computer skills are also essential along with the ability to effectively negotiate positive outcomes.
