The opportunity

As the Senior Accountant, Financial Accounting Operations you will be part of the divisional Finance Control team supporting the Manager, Finance Operations. This team is responsible for the delivery of accurate month end close, banking administration and accounts payable processes.

This role will assist with accounting and reporting activities, ensuring the compliance with statutory accounting standards and audit practices and supporting internal and external reporting.

The opportunity

  • Supporting the performance and results of the Financial Accounting Operations team

  • Delivering accurate and timely month end close, including consistency and control for finance calculations and appropriate support for reconciliations

  • Supporting operational processes such as accounts payable, corporate card administration and treasury administration

  • Work with team to contribute and implement continuous improvements within Financial Control, including participating in projects as appropriate

  • Assist with year-end audit process and provision of information to external auditors

  • Work with the extended offshore team to produce accurate and timely deliverables

  • Supporting statutory and regulatory reporting teams

The key skills and attributes required for this role include the following:

  • Degree Qualified (CA/CPA) essential with proven working experience within general insurance accounting and experience of reporting in a global Insurance or Finance Services organisation

  • Understanding of the Insurance industry and business with exposure to APRA reporting for General Insurance

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, pressurised environment with the ability to meet deadlines

  • A willingness and desire to learn, with a proactive approach and a high level of attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills with a level of business acumen and the ability to communicate with technical accounting terms

  • Advanced excel skills.
