About us:

Our client is a well-regarded defence company based in NSW who are going through a huge growth period. They are looking for junior to mid-level Product Development Engineers to join the team and design the unconventional. You will be exposed to anything and everything while have the freedom to speak your mind and think outside the box.

Your new job:

  • This role incorporates the development and implementation of reliable, capable, and cost-conscious manufacturing methods to assure products are effectively transferred into manufacturing.
  • The successful applicant will be expected to work alongside, and influence the outputs of product design, suppliers, and manufacturing to produce robust solutions within the project constraints of quality, timeline, resources, and budget.

What you will need to succeed:

  • A tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, or relevant discipline with at least 2 years of hands on experience
  • In-depth experience with product development and design methodologies and related processes and Package and CAD (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD) experience is essential
  • Proficiency working in a fast-paced, innovative, high quality, regulated, engineering environment such as Automotive, Aerospace, or similar industry is essential.
  • Should be an Australian citizen.
  • A demonstrated competency in delivering design solutions for high quality, low cost, volume manufactured products
  • Excellent attention to detail and self-motivation to deliver work to the highest standards
  • Ability to multitask, plan, schedule, coordinate, manage time efficiently, and problem solve effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork, and ability to take initiative
  • Experience in internal and external stakeholder management at multiple levels
  • Assisting to train and support new team members and sharing of design tool knowledge

The responsibilities of this role are (but not limited to):

  • Interpret product requirements and design and develop concepts, components, assemblies, and products in compliance with applicable quality system procedures, industry and business standards, and regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge in using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD experience is mandatory
  • Experience in working with a team from a broad range of cross-functional areas with often competing objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the issue resolution process.
  • High energy, self-starter, with the ability and desire to take the responsibility to deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Ability and courage to effectively communicate key issues and make informed recommendations to senior management.
  • Team player with a positive and flexible can-do attitude.
  • Employ data-driven tools and methodologies to implement structured and timely problem-solving.
  • Identify opportunities and develop recommendations to improve product/design efficiency.
