THE OPPORTUNITY

This position is responsible for encouraging, promoting and where necessary enforcing standards that will enhance the health and safety of the community and the natural and built environment.

This is a temporary position for six months.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO

  • Undertake investigation and follow-up for development and environmental complaints.
  • Serve orders and notices and enforce requirements legislation including the Local Government Act 1993, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
  • Undertake administrative duties and correspondence requirements in line with council policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with relevant Council plans and policies relevant to the position.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

Demonstrated experience in a regulatory experience undertaking a regulatory and enforcement action under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993 and Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.

  • Investigations training or experience
  • Ability to interpret Development Approvals
  • Ability to identify unlawful or unapproved construction outside of Council approvals
  • Investigate complex waste transport offences

ABOUT YOU

You will possess excellent communication skills, and have a level of fitness that gives confidence in working in public and non-public areas. 

You be confident in conducting investigations and interpreting various legislations and be experienced in report writing.

This role requires a high level attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively in difficult situations.

Salary: $63,452 – $73,743 per annum plus superannuation.
