About the opportunity

Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Senior Ecologist to deliver on-ground works as part of our Ecology Team within a variety of exciting projects across the South East Queensland region. As the Senior Ecologist, you will be the lead, field ecologist and knowledge expert within the Ecology division.

In these roles, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of research, analysis, field surveys, impact assessments, approvals and technical reports
  • Manage Ecological projects from initial scope and client liaison, field flora and fauna surveys through to commercial delivery with the assistance of our Team Leader.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients from across the resources and infrastructure, government and defence, residential and aviation sectors
  • Assist with preparation of submissions and proposals
  • Maintaining a solid understanding of commonwealth, state and local government environmental regulations and their application as well as relevant industry standards, practices and approvals processes
  • Technical leadership, coordination and mentoring of a team of Ecologists and Fauna Field members
  • Compliance reporting and monitoring
  • Follow recommended dress codes for each site to ensure OHS requirements are met and Biodiversity Australia is well presented to clients and the public

About you

To be successful in the role of Senior Ecologist, you will have experience on sites with a high safety standard and encompass a great safety culture. In addition, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, and/or Natural Resource Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience working as a Senior Ecologist
  • Experienced report writer and technical reviewer
  • Working knowledge of consulting practice plus extensive project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing, submitting and managing specialist biological assessment reports including Environmental Impact Assessments and Offsets
  • Experiencing in Bio condition assessments and regional ecosystem mapping and reporting
  • Experience in undertaking Environmental Assessments for construction projects
  • You must have the ability and willingness to undertake field work when required
  • Current drivers licence, White Card and First Aid Certificate
