About the role:

Nova Systems are currently seeking Cyber Security/Cyberworthiness Consultants to work across a range of Defence Projects in Newcastle. Our definition of Cyberworthiness is:

‘Cyberworthiness is achieved when security risks have been assessed, mitigated, and actively managed for all Fundamental Inputs to Capability throughout the full Capability Life Cycle of an Information System. To achieve Cyberworthiness, a deep understanding a capability’s use cases, functionality, design, and support systems is balanced against the continually evolving threat environment and the organisation’s resources in order to field a capability where the security risk profile has been lowered’.

About you:

You will have exposure to Defence projects, at any stage of the project lifecycle. Your technical experience will comprise of some of the skills below to be considered:

  • Intrusion detection;
  • Firewalls;
  • Data encryption;
  • Communications Security;
  • Networked intelligence sharing;
  • Cyberworthiness Assessments;
  • Incident Response;
  • Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery;
  • Fundamental Inputs to Capability assessment;
  • Satellite communications;
  • Tactical Data Links;
  • Penetration testing;
  • System security;
  • Systems Engineering;
  • System architecture;
  • Governance, risk and control; and
  • Capability Life Cycle.

You will have demonstratable experience working with a range of stakeholders including System Owners/Sponsors, Business Users, Technical Staff and Certification/Accreditation Authorities regarding the above areas of expertise.

What we would like from you:

  • 2+ years of experience working in information security;
  • An Australian Citizen with a current or suspended AGSVA clearance (NV2 required, TSPV preferred);
  • Relevant Cyber Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer, PCI-QSA and OSCP;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ICT security frameworks including the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), The Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF);
  • Experience in producing security documentation to meet Security Accreditation requirements, including but not limited to the System Overview Document (SOD), Statement of Applicability (SoA), Security Risk Management Plan (SRMP), System Security Plan (SSP), Incident Response Plan (IRP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Ability to liaise with, and influence stakeholders to ensure best-for-Defence outcomes;
  • Advanced communications skills, both written and verbal;
  • Experience in Defence writing standards;
  • Excellent client management/stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Commitment to on-going professional development.
