About the opportunity: 

Nova Systems is a leading Australian owned engineering and project management consultancy servicing Defence industry, and our commercial clients. Our Aerospace and Surveillance operations to date have delivered engineering support across a number of Fixed Wing Defence projects, including but not limited to;

  • AIR7000 Maritime Patrol Aircraft Replacement, including P-8 and Triton;
  • AIR7003 MQ-9 Reaper variant
  • AIR8000 C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifter;
  • AIR5428 Pilot Training Systems;
  • KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport.

We have immediate, permanent opportunities for Aerospace Engineers to join our Newcastle operations team supporting Defence clients in the Aerospace domain. We are also interested in those with extensive Project Management experience for future opportunities (EOI). Your experience could span across one or more of the following areas;

  • Systems Engineering;
  • Airworthiness and Certification;
  • Test and Evaluation / V&V;
  • Project Management and Control;
  • Acquisition and Sustainment organisations;
  • Personnel Management.

What will you be involved in: 

Aerospace Engineers

  • Systems and/or process design and design review; 
  • Systems safety assessment and risk analysis; 
  • Test and Evaluation/Verification and Validation; 
  • Trial planning, executing, and reporting; 
  • Requirements and configuration management. 

Project Managers (EOI)

  • Management of projects for delivery of capability;
  • Initiating, undertaking and transitioning projects through acquisition and sustainment;
  • Development of project estimates to define scope, schedule and budget
  • Ensuring scope, schedule and budget control;
  • Effective stakeholder engagement (internally and externally).

What we would like from you:


  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Defence Aerospace environment;
  • Previous experience working in the CASG or SPO environments (desirable);
  • Australian Citizen with current or recently suspended AGSVA clearance (NV2 preferred).


  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related field with demonstrated experience of this being applied within the aerospace industry;
  • Experience in senior engineering roles on an aerospace platform, sustainment engineering management and systems, stakeholder engagement;
  • Understanding of and experience in the management sustainment engineering and asset management systems;
  • Experience in implementing DASA requirements for aerospace platforms;
  • Exposure to Verification and Validation (desirable);
  • Experience conducting aircraft certification (desirable);
  • Experience conducting test and evaluation activities (desirable);
  • Previous Australian Defence experience (Engineering) disciplines (desirable);
  • Familiar with Aerospace Technical Regulations (desirable).

Project Managers (EOI)

  • Experience in delivering projects in technically complex environments;
  • Understanding of the Capability Life Cycle (desirable);
  • Industry recognised qualifications/certification in Project Management (desirable);
  • ASDEFCON experience (desirable).
