Leading a team of Security Operations Analysts, the Security Operations Leader is accountable for the controls and process which allows Virgin Australia to detect and respond to information security incidents.

As part of a broader Information Security team, the Security Operations Leader will provide subject matter expertise to risk assessments and work with the Security Architect to design and implement security controls to address gaps and emerging threats.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Establish and maintain operational security processes to respond to incidents in line with VA policies and standards.
  • Monitor VA’s environment to identify security event or changes to the security risk profile.
  • Direct and manage MSSP resources providing support to security monitoring.
  • Produce regular metrics and detailed reporting on security events and changes to security risk profile.
  • Lead, as required, incident response and internal investigations in support of the People Team.
  • Ensure the Security Operations team is appropriately skilled and practised in response plans.
  • Actively seek and maintain productive relationships with relevant business stakeholders to ensure internal and external customer centricity drives all decision making.
  • Actively review customer and stakeholder feedback to ensure solutions and strategies continued to deliver required outcomes
  • Build and maintain an accountable, high performing and engaged team.
  • Set clear expectations and ensure KPIs are in place for all team members, linked to organisational objectives.
  • Communicate and align teams to ensure they are set-up for success.
  • Provide coaching, development and training opportunities for all team members.

What we're looking for:

  • Degree in Information Technology or related discipline
  • Development and execution of incident response plans
  • Vulnerability identification and penetration testing in an enterprise environment
  • Implementation and management of security controls in an enterprise environment
  • Conducting incident response and investigations up to an evidential standard
  • Strong leadership, collaboration and stakeholder management experience.
  • Modelling of security threats and event analysis
  • Design security controls to address risks and emerging threats
  • Incident management and investigation.
  • Information security threats and industry trends
  • Industry frameworks including ISO27001, NIST
  • Information security technology including WAP, DLP, IDS/IPs, IDAM, SIEM, Anti-malware
  • Incident handling and security monitoring best practice.
