About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of Software Engineering process, procedures and the overall engineering product lifecycle
  • Advanced experience in software engineering methodologies and techniques preferably in a web-based development domain
  • Advanced experience leading and/or managing multiple small teams to successful system outcomes
  • Excellent ability to apply experiential judgement and lateral approaches to complex problem solving.
Desirable:
  • Prior experience in the development of mission systems
  • Experience in working within DevOps environments
  • Automating processes for building, configuring, releasing and deploying software systems
  • Experience with the interfacing and integration of physical systems (e.g. radars) into software architectures
  • Knowledge in the development of open architectures and the development of service-based architectures
  • Experience working with software containers (such as Docker)
  • Knowledge in software integration
  • Experience in JAVA, Python, C++ and web development toolsets
  • Agile software development and team leading experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

STELaRLab is working closely with the Commonwealth of Australia in the development of a small, mobile, advanced system capable of operating in complex threat environments. STELaRLab, working with partners from academia and industry, will develop a mission system that simplifies the integration of a variety of novel, next-generation sensors and effectors, with the ultimate aim of undertaking a field demonstration of the system.

As the lead of a software sub-team, this position will be responsible for the design, development and testing of critical parts of the system. The Mission System Senior Software Engineer will undertake the development of project software related deliverables to ensure all technical and quality requirements are met.

You will undertake activities to identify, analyse, select and apply concepts, technologies and techniques that are applicable to the technical development of software products.
