Babcock has an exciting opening for a full time Commercial Officer to join our growing team based in our Adelaide CBD headquarters.

About the Role

The Commercial Officer provides legal, commercial and procurement administrative support to Babcock Australasia Corporate, Defence and Aviation business units including assistance with commercial, procurement and company secretary function activities, business governance and compliance and initiatives to improve policies, processes, performance and service levels to support business objectives. Responsibilities include administration of commercial and procurement activities including business support, data and records management, reporting and purchase order processing.

This role will report to the Head of Commercial, Trade Controls and Corporate Procurement / Corporate Procurement Manager and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Pro-active support to the commercial and procurement team and other internal stakeholders
Support corporate governance, corporate risk management, maintenance of digital records, registers, reporting, insurance, business winning, project performance, commercial, procurement and trade controls activities as required
Assistance with commercial aspects of bids and tenders
Support with managing customers and suppliers. Undertake due diligence investigations (customer and supplier relationships) and administer on boarding activities
Anti-Bribery and Corruption Officer for the Australasian region
Company secretary duties such as ASIC annual report lodgement, changes in corporate structure and upkeep of company registers
Undertake due diligence investigation (customer and supplier relationships)
Assistance with insurance queries, amendments and renewals
Assistance with monitoring and reporting against statutory and regulatory changes relevant to the business

About You

The ideal candidate will be tertiary/diploma/degree qualified (desirable) in Business, Commerce, Law or similar associated field and will have experience in a similar role within a technical environment. You will have exceptional time management qualities coupled with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload and timeframes in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, an ability to be able to communicate at all levels of the business and across all internal and external stakeholders is considered essential in order to be successful in this position. The successful candidate will have high-level MS Offices computer skills and have a proven ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes.
