The Role

Spotless is the lead contractor providing Estate Maintenance and Operation Services (EMOS) for the Department of Defence in Queensland and Southern New South Wales. As lead contractor within the region we deliver a suite of services to support Defence capability.

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to be part of the National Facilities Maintenance team. This position will support the team by identifying opportunities for improved infrastructure and equipment performance, as well as whole-of-life outcomes, for both the client and the Spotless Defence line of business.

This role will report to the National Strategic Estate Manager and will deliver a range of services including, but not limited to:

  • Developing business strategy to promote the organisation’s recognised engineering competence & market advantage;
  • Selecting, developing, & deploying engineering expertise to ensure projects are completed in accordance with budgetary & quality requirements;
  • Developing engineering standards & policy within the Line of Business and the broader organisation (where relevant);
  • Developing & controlling project budgets;
  • Liaising with other members of the organisation, with project teams & with clients to promote the company’s market position;
  • Conduct detailed analysis of maintenance and life-cycle information to identify opportunities for advancement in operational performance and whole-of-life outcomes;

Skills and Experience

  • Suitability for Defence security clearance (Australian citizenship mandatory);
  • Engineering degree in a relevant field (mechanical / electrical / electronic or similar) and / or trade background;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mining, utilities, defence, aviation, renewables or infrastructure;
  • Proven experience in Reliability Engineering (spares optimisation/Monte-Carlo, Weibull Distribution, Reliability Systems Modelling, etc);
  • Strong experience in and knowledge of maintenance estimation & budgeting;
  • Experience with Six Sigma / Lean (preferred);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high-level technical writing skills;
  • Strong ability to make quality decisions and judgements;
  • Defence site experience will be well regarded;
