Our client is a highly specialised engineering and systems design business. They focus on the early-stage of project lifecycles, systems thinking and rigorous engineering practises and lead development of the capability design for some of Australia’s largest and most complex systems in many industries, with focus on Defence and Transportation. In addition to this, our client has core capability in aerospace modelling and simulation, specialising in probabilistic range safety analysis of aerospace vehicles.

Having experienced exceptional success in recent years and with a strong growth trajectory, an opportunity for an experienced and relatively senior marketer to work with the Head of Strategy and BD, a partner in the firm, to tailor initiatives and solutions that communicate the firm’s brand to current and future clients in line with company strategic objectives and market development plans.

Supported by a proposal and marketing coordinator, the Marketing and Brand Manager is accountable for driving engagement with the market and collaborating with the broader Business Development & Marketing team to grow the firm’s brand and profile, drawing new opportunities along the client journey.

The firm has ambitious growth and diversification goals. The incumbent will develop and drive marketing strategy to achieve them. Working across teams, the incumbent will elicit creative approaches to thought leadership and design relatable credentials to evidence expertise and experience in ways that are both meaningful and impactful within relevant markets. Working across the business, the incumbent will manage both external and internal brand communications.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies, policies and guides to support and embed consistent branding and communications, including:
  • Induction and training of all staff on the effective implementation of marketing strategy and corporate brand
  • Oversight of all external marketing communications, templates and support material to ensure brand consistency
  • Integration of brand compliance into the company’s quality assurance system
  • Liaison with external consultants and advisors to secure trademarks and intellectual property
  • Design and deliver engaging marketing strategies (including content, thought leadership, EDM, social and digital) to support Shoal’s Corporate Strategy, Market Sector Plans and Campaigns
  • Develop, implement, maintain and manage external communications including social media, media releases, website and sector / business development materials
  • Build effective relationships with external media to foster brand awareness
  • Manage the implementation of sponsorships, effectively leveraging and reporting on involvement and outcomes
  • Develop and implement internal communications to support marketing and People & Culture strategies
  • Manage the suite of firm-wide internal communications templates and guides to consistently deliver a professional and engaging brand message
  • Draft communications for stakeholders
  • Create and maintain standard content for BDM communications, tenders and proposals
  • Monitor and report on results, aligned with corporate, market and / or campaign goals
  • Writing and / or review of submissions, white papers, tenders, proposals, case studies and CVs to ensure persuasive, engaging, consistent and purposeful outcomes.

Role requirements

  • Degree qualified in marketing, communications or similar
  • At least 8 years of experience in marketing strategy and communications management
  • Experience in professional services marketing and / or high growth services sectors
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in the interpretation of complex, technical detail into accessible language
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships and influence senior stakeholders
  • An eye for design
