The Product & Customer Systems Specialist manages and supports the key systems and applications that are leveraged by Virgin Australia’s Product & Customer team to deliver the customer proposition (eg. Lounge, IFE, IFC). The role provides expertise in troubleshooting complex business issues as well as consultation and advice on enhancing the technical solutions and capabilities in place to support the business. Being recognised as an expert and thought leader the role will work closely with internal clients to understand their business problems and strategies, and in consultation with appropriate Technology team members and service providers, drive relevant, simple and robust solutions that leverage existing systems or deliver new functionality and capability.

The role is also accountable for the support and maintenance of the core business systems supporting Product & Customer, ensuring processes are in place to maintain the ongoing operation of the core systems and the delivery of the backlog of small changes and enhancements.

Key accountabilities:
Collaborate with business areas, customers, partners and internally within Technology to provide support, solutions and advice to business problems whilst optimising and maximising the use of existing technologies
Engage with business areas to oversee and understand requirements, processes and support needs, designing and implementing solutions for approved enhancements and changes, to ensure simple robust design and satisfied customers.
Accountable for the assessment and implementation of the backlog of small system enhancements and changes to deliver timely improvements to the operation of the business
Accountable for the ongoing system support and maintenance implementing appropriate processes to ensure smooth running of business operations and optimal platform performance, including end user troubleshooting and resolution of incidents and defects
Understand business strategies ensuring alignment to system solutions
Define and setup development and operational frameworks and standards to ensure best practise processes are in place
Support Business Case development
Support the creation and management of the business teams’ technology road-map development, architecture and programmes to drive improvement and the desired outcomes with a focus on the customer

What we're looking for:
7+ years’ experience supporting systems in a large airline/or equivalent transportation company
Experience guiding teams of solution, technical and subject experts, and
Experience in providing operational support services for software systems
Track record of identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and delivering effective change
Disciplined approach to problem solving and an ability to critically assess a range of information to understand and interpret business needs of solutions.
Evidence of utilising strong communication and facilitation skills encompassing user and management levels
Highly developed communication and relationship building skills
Interpersonal skills including the ability to engage and influence others
