Business Need / Purpose of Role

The Wear Solutions Manager - East will execute our service and supply sales strategy and achieve growth across the East region. They will manage the Product Specialists – Linatex to develop the greater rubber business, evaluate and understand market conditions and forces, drive growth strategies, and deliver on the greater East business strategy

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities

Including but not limited to:
  • Create mutually beneficial relationships with customers to make Weir the supplier of choice
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers to ensure expectations are being met and remedial action taken to address issues
  • Manage, plan and conduct sales calls for potential and existing customers, including the reporting of calls to the wider business stakeholders
  • Evaluate prospective company products’ application and provide solutions on the basis of customer needs
  • Onsite technical support, problem solving/installation supervision
  • Management of all technical issues related to projects/products and applications and preparation and presentation of report
  • Manage the preparation of tender applications
  • Manage the review of customer specifications and develop complete technical and commercial proposals
  • Create a high performance culture. This will be achieved through a robust succession plan deep within the business, the recruitment of high calibre team members and the retention and structured performance development of existing team members
  • Plan, lead, organize and coach direct reports to deliver performance against Key Financial, Quality, Safety and Customer Service measures. This will be achieved by setting clear expectations, driving accountability and developing individual and team performance
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and supporting departments to drive business performance
  • Operate as a fully functioning member of the East Team actively contributing whenever necessary in addressing cross functional business issues
  • Present technical expertise to select, implement and develop competitive product applications as well as solutions
  • Foster the development of new, creative products and services
  • Convey customer requirements to Product Development and Manufacturing Management teams
  • Develop and implement a sustainable strategy for the growth of the allocated region
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Use of CRM to capture sales opportunities, manage a sales manager dashboard to understand and derive reports from the CRM
  • Product Sales Forecast, inclusive of BPC use, along with product/business performance reporting
  • Improving the efficiency of the sales and tendering processes

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
Previous technical sales experience, with proven ability to demonstrate identification of opportunities, formulation of strategies and achievement of results.
  • Degree in Engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of the minerals processing industries

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.

Physical Demands:
Car driving: For up to 7 hours per day
Travelling: On aircrafts, boats and to remote areas

Work Environment:
Moderate office environment with regular exposure to loud mine sites. Appropriate PPE should be worn in site and workshop environments.
