Claims Officer – Public Liability

Location: Parramatta, NSW

The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Public Liability Claims Officer to join our Latent & Special Risk Claim Team in NSW on a permanent full-time basis. The role will see you proactively manage a portfolio of highly sensitive and confidential Liability claims ensuring that quality customer service is provided.

The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:

  • Efficient management of the claims process, resulting in accurate completion and validation of claims
  • Interpreting policy coverage and determining if coverage applies to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed
  • Establishing and maintaining good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards
  • Initiation and completion of any recoveries from third parties
  • Self audit of claims files to ensure positive internal audits
  • Response to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines

Your story so far

  • Strong technical understanding and ability to manage complex portfolio of bodily injury and product liability claims
  • Understanding of underwriting procedures for a diversified liability portfolio and a proven ability to understand and interpret relevant policy wordings
  • Ability to engage, instruct and work with relevant providers including loss adjusters, lawyers and consultants
  • Expert understanding of, and demonstrable application of, the General Insurance Code of Practice
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client/customer relationships
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and resilience
  • Good problem-solving skills - ability to interpret technical / investigation / medical reports to make sound business decisions
  • Ability to participate in alternative dispute resolution
