Key accountabilities:

  • Drive the improvement and ongoing management of procurement strategies, tools and templates as well as establish and manage the procurement governance framework.
  • Develop, improve and monitor compliance to the common processes, tools and frameworks supporting the core procurement business processes of category strategy development and execution including driving advancements such as the introduction of spend under management.
  • Work closely with colleagues from across the procurement department to ensure that tools, frameworks and processes are fit for purpose and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement activity.
  • Support Group wide compliance with legislative requirements including modern slavery and small and medium business payment terms. They will also be instrumental in driving improvements in purchasing processes to ensure end to end value is maintained through procurement activities.
  • Engage across the procurement community, with a view to ensure consistency and enablement as well as focussing on raising the maturity and capability of both the direct procurement team and the broader community.
  • Support procurement leadership in the planning and execution of procurement training and knowledge-sharing initiatives, including liaising with and managing relationships with key external bodies and coordinating Powering Procurement (internal procurement training) sessions.
  • Improve overarching procurement governance and reporting, including the introduction and coordination of procurement strategy councils to drive consistency and quality across the procurement approach to category strategy development and execution.
  • Reporting responsibilities will include business reporting, statutory reporting and benefits reporting including the maintenance of the procurement balanced scorecard.


What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing and category management environment, including at least 1 years in a Strategy/Process/Frameworks role
  • Strong program and project management experience as well as demonstrable business advisory / process improvement experience
  • Advanced influencing, communication and negotiation skills. Demonstrates the ability to:
  • Lead moderate to complex negotiations
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrable ability in:
  • Delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills, with a clear understanding of the drivers affecting the business, enabling assertive and effective guidance to business stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills supporting high-quality delivery.
  • Strong commercial acumen developed in a supply chain/procurement context within large organisations.
  • Detailed knowledge of leading strategic sourcing and category management practices.
  • Moderate to complex business case development and financial modelling principles to develop, lead and critically analyse cost reduction and supply-related business improvement initiatives.
  • Best-practice supply chain management design principles and operating practices.
  • Tertiary qualifications with either a business/commerce or law focus.
  • Professional qualifications within the procurement & supply chain management discipline.
