The Organisation -

Boeing Defence Australia's Aerospace Engineering & Production Capability provides a range of modification, production, repair and continuing airworthiness services to support Defence's Boeing-managed aircraft fleets and complex communication systems. We work hand-in-hand with our customers to develop and deliver critical capabilities to support their mission now and into the future.


The opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Aircraft Structures & Mechanical Systems Engineer to join the team sustaining the world class airborne surveillance, communications and maritime patrol system; the P-8A Poseidon. Boeing's exciting and dynamic team is responsible for providing Deeper Maintenance for the P-8A Poseidon.

The role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh, Adelaide.

As an Aircraft Structures & Mechanical Systems Engineer you will:

  • Develop, document, review and validate engineering products in accordance with the approved Engineering Management System.
  • Conduct Continuing Airworthiness Management engineering activities using Defence Aviation Safety Regulations.
  • Plan and implement a system to capture, manage and report non-conformances.
  • Provide engineering support including physical inspection, evaluation and classification of structural non-conformances.
  • Manage disposition of non-conformances including liaison with local technicians and US Navy.
  • Develop repair/modification instructions to maintain conformance with type design.
  • Provide direct support the sustainment team to ensure safe, high tempo flight operations.
  • Engage effectively with team members, leaders and technical representatives including Royal Australian Air Force and United States Navy personnel.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Hold tertiary qualifications in either Mechanical, Aeronautical or related engineering degree that satisfies the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Have well-developed communication skills to work collaboratively to a high standard within a multi-discipline team.
  • Previous experience in aircraft structural design/repair and mechanical systems is highly regarded.
