We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to deliver efficient, accurate, timely and meaningful accounting for our Future Energy leaders. Helping to contribute towards the delivery on Ampol' s strategy.

About the role:

As the Financial Accountant, this role plays a critical part in the accounting for the Future Energy team. You will maintain the integrity of financial information through compliance of Ampol cccounting policies, accounting standards and internal controls. You will be reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, ensuring a timely delivery of accounts and financial reporting, to support leaders with budget planning and management of capital expenditure.

We are currently located at our Sydney CBD office but will be undertaking a permanent office move to Alexandria mid this year. This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure collation and uploading of data and information into the accounting systems
  • Educate and assist leaders to understand and own their cost centres as well as explaining variances to budgets and forecasts
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of capital expenditure inputs into the general ledger, including appropriate depreciation and amortisation 
  • Ensure reconciliations, controls, and detailed review with Project Managers to close out matters 
  • Support lease accounting tasks, including review of existing and new lease information
  • Maintain the integrity of financial information by ensuring compliance with Ampol Accounting policies, Accounting standards and internal controls 
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across Future Energy, including external parties 
  • Develop and enhance processes so that organisational capability remains effective and efficient to adapt to business needs and in line with competitive practices 

About you:

  • Tertiary qualified CA/CPA or close to qualification
  • Experience in the preparation of accurate financial modelling and budgets 
  • Sound understanding of key accounting principles for the delivery of accurate financial data 
  • Ability to interpret financial data and information and provide advice to stakeholders 
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship building skills 
  • Strong knowledge on an ERP 
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
