About the role

The role of the Principal Communications Engineer is to engage in, and where appropriate lead, the development of engineering designs and associated activities as requested by the line Manager. These activities can include WHS activities, systems assurance, risk management, competency management, requirement management, procurement, installation, Test and Commissioning, site supervision and issue resolution.

  • Completion of allocated tasks to the required standard, within the require time frames and budgets
  • Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements.
  • Support Tenders with reference designs and budgets
  • Assist in building the competence of the engineering team
  • Undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed.

About You

  • At least 10 years experience in the design and implementation of wireless and fixed telecommunications systems
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, email.
  • Experienced gained in the rail, automotive, military, Defence, avionics or any other safety critical environment.
