As Principal Adviser Dangerous Goods you will be a source of expertise and lead the Group Compliance (Dangerous Goods) team by providing technical advice and supporting compliance and safety services. You will be responsible for the provision of Dangerous Goods specialist advice to DGs Coordinators, training course development, maintenance and renewal of Qantas Group DGs regulatory approvals. The Principal Adviser Dangerous Goods provides input and reporting to the various AOCs Safety Management System(s) as required to ensure the accountable managers have adequate oversight of dangerous goods occurrences and trends.

You’ll have –

  • Technical knowledge in Dangerous Goods (Passenger and/or Freight)

  • Degree in business, project management or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organisational skills, with ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, under pressure and to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to manage complex projects and develop / negotiate solutions to difficult problems.

  • High degree of computer literacy including experience with database and analysis programs and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to interpret and assess technical information

  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and appropriately problem solve diverse customer problems

  • Ability to communicate, influence and engage with stakeholders and front line operational areas

  • Attention to detail, self-motivated with an ability to see tasks through to closure

  • Experience in project management within a complex organisation (desirable)

  • ‘Dangerous Goods Acceptance' qualifications is desirable

  • Intelex system experience is desirable
