The Opportunity

We are seeking a Maintenance Operations Manager to join our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team supporting the P8-A Poseidon platform at Royal Australian Air Force Base Edinburgh.

The Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning and technical guidance for multi-skilled support teams across multiple site locations. This new role will provide the successful applicant an exciting management opportunity in a unique, fast paced environment.

The successful candidate is to be both a creative and dedicated individual who will harmonise and lead a collaborative culture. This position requires the leadership skills necessary to make decisions with sound judgment; to train and mentor maintenance employees for improved performance; and guide day-to-day operations successfully. To be successful, the qualified candidate requires the utmost professionalism, integrity and work ethic while possessing a visionary skill-set that will successfully carry the team into the future.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the 145 maintenance organisation delivers serviceable aircraft to meet the flying program in a manner that is compliant with DASR regulations and the BDA exposition.
  • Maintaining and proactively progressing governance actions, managing risk assessment requirements by ensuring that all risk assessments are conducted prior to the use of new equipment in maintenance facility, coordinate Risk Assessment (RA) review process, raising and developing new RAs as required.
  • Ensuring that scheduled maintenance events are completed in the planned timelines.
  • Coordinating the maintenance requirements for deployments, secondary missions and aircraft recoveries.
  • Developing processes as required to improve work flow/performance.
  • Managing employees leave and rosters, processing time sheets, and ensuring that staff mandatory training has been completed.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong background and an in-depth knowledge of maintenance requirements
  • Ability to continually improve the team's performance and work processes through feedback, problem solving and idea generation
  • Skills to develop and implement new policies, and procedures that will enhance P8-A Deeper Maintenance operations
  • Minimum five years' military or commercial aircraft maintenance experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office products.
  • Hold Certificate IV in Aero Skills (desirable)
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Defence Security Clearance of Negative Vetting 1
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
