The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division engages with our customers and communities to deliver safe and tailored transport choices that connect regional NSW and contribute to strong economic growth and sustainability.

The Network and Assets Branch are the Custodian of the regional road and rail network. They manage the assets to deliver safe, sustainable and integrated services to regional communities.

The opportunity

In this newly created role, the Performance Analyst will work collaboratively across the division to analyse performance and produce reports for the Executive, stakeholders, and the public (including the Delivery Plan and Corporate and Annual Reports). The team also enables the planning component of the agency's annual Planning and Budgeting cycle.

The position location is flexible across Sydney, the Central Coast (Kangy Angy) and Newcastle.

What you will be involved in

The successful candidate will support the performance management and reporting functions of the division by collating, analysing and presenting asset and network performance information to meet business requirements, manage asset performance and assist in decision making.

Given the vast range of stakeholders pertaining to this role, the Performance Analyst will be exceptionally collaborative in their approach in order to consider and meet the needs and expectations of all stakeholders. Additionally, this role will be responsible for;

  • Demonstrating the Transport Connected Leadership dimensions by role modelling collegiate and collaborative behaviours to achieve the greater good for the community, celebrate our diverse workforce, create an environment where people can create and thrive, and support our people’s wellbeing.
  • Performance Analysis – Use data analysis techniques to report on, and manage supplier, operator and asset performance across a large portfolio of assets including rollingstock, maintenance facilities, simulators and rail infrastructure.
  • Performance Management – develop collaborative relationships with suppliers to continuously improve performance and contribute to service and asset reliability. Participate and support incident investigations, perform auditing functions and contribute to reporting.
  • Reporting - Produce regular reports for management on the performance of assets, services, programs and projects.
  • Operational and Risk Management – Support the Contract Management Team by reviewing and improving business systems and processes and report as required on activities, performance, trends and issues.
  • Project Management – Contribute to the management of performance-orientated projects that deliver specified outcomes for stakeholders in terms of safety, scope, quality, standards, budgets, timeframes and customer expectations. Ensuring all projects are delivered to meet organisational standards and legislative requirements and to drive continuous improvement and innovation across the business.
  • Teamwork - Work cooperatively within a team and across multi-functional program teams, exchange information and assist other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes.

About you

We are looking for someone who works collaboratively with others and builds and maintains strong team relationships. The successful candidates will be committed to managing and prioritising competing demands and responsibilities in a busy and evolving environment.

You will have experience in critically analysing and interpreting large amounts of diverse and complex data to provide advice on current and emerging trends and issues.

You will possess proven and extensive knowledge and experience in analysing and reporting on complex technical issues, and service, network and asset performance in rail, maritime, defence or aircraft environments. Supplier performance management and continuous improvement experience would be a significant advantage.

You will have previous experience in a role with significant commercial supplier interaction, and working effectively with a high degree of autonomy is essential.

Shift work on a flexible, rotating roster is a requirement of this role.
